I purchased my printer over a year ago in preparation for using a home office in the future. I didn't open it until a few weeks ago. There were no ink cartridges so I ordered replacement cartridges. I inserted the replacement cartridges today and now the printer is saying I need to use the setup cartridges that came with the printer. I have tried resolving the issue with HP Virtual Assistant and it tells me to return the device to the seller. I cannot return it because I purchased it over a year ago. Is there a way to bypass the setup cartridge process?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. The ink cartridges that go with the printers are set up ink cartridges that are designed to initialize the printer.
There is no option to perform a reset on this printer model to bypass the use of setup ink cartridges. I'm sending out a private message to assist you with the next course of action.
