Hi @Craig209,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The error message you're encountering indicates that your HP OfficeJet 3830 printer is not able to print because it needs to be connected to the internet to update its HP Instant Ink status. Here's a detailed guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Ensure Internet Connectivity:

  • HP+ printers and those enrolled in Instant Ink require a continuous internet connection to function properly and update Instant Ink status.

  • Check if your printer is connected to the internet through Wi-Fi and that the connection is active.

Remove and Reinsert Ink Cartridges:

  • Turn on your printer.

  • Open the cartridge access door.

  • Wait until the carriage stops moving, then remove the ink cartridges and reinsert them to ensure proper seating.

Check Printer Status in HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your device.

  • Select your printer and check its status. Ensure the status is marked as "Ready to print" with a green circle icon, indicating a good connection.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer firmware is up-to-date to improve performance and resolve potential issues.

  • You can update the firmware via the HP Smart app or directly from the printer’s control panel under settings. Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support.

Check Web Services Connection:

  • Open the HP printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) using the printer’s IP address.

  • Go to the Web Services tab and ensure it is enabled. If not, enable it and follow the prompts.

Reset the Web Services Connection:

  • Sometimes, resetting the Web Services connection can help clear server connection issues. If prompted, follow instructions to remove and then set up Web Services again.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off and restart your printer, router, and the device running the HP Smart app to clear any error states.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
