I have the same problem AtomicHobo had on 6/21/22. I rescued an OfficeJet Pro 8025e from the trash, so I do not know the previous owner. I bought some ink cartridges for the printer, but it will not work. I assume the owner was on a program that will not allow me to use the machine. Kumar0307 responded to AtomicHobo: "The printer has to be removed by the previous owner from his Instant Ink account before you can claim it and re-enroll it with your account. If you are not aware of the previous owner, we can perform a factory reset on the printer. The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device. I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer." I am curious if this solution will work for me.

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you want to reset the printer, I am glad to assist you.
You might have to perform a semi-full reset on the printer.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.
I hope this helps resolve this issue completely.
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
Cheers.

Sandytechy20, thanks for the response. i followed your instructions, and when I powered up the printer, I got no error message. I was no longer WiFi connected, so I had to reconnect. I tried printing a couple of files but was unsuccessful. On my computer it appeared to be trying to connect/print, but nothing happened at the printer. I tried to power off the printer with the button, but it would not power off, so I had to unplug, replug, and power on. I got this message: "Printer Cannot Print. A problem has occurred and you will be unable to print until the issue is resolved. Check your HP account for more information. If you have an HP+ printer, make sure to use Original HP cartridges. To learn more, open the HP Smart app or visit www.hpsmrat.com and sign in to your account." Since I rescued this 2-year-old printer from being discarded, I do not have an account and have not registered it anywhere. Can the problem be corrected without an account?
