I recently upgraded my ink subscription, but my printer doesn't recognize the upgrade, and won't print my work. Can anyone tell me how to solve my issue?

Hi @MAC1003,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how frustrating it can be when you've upgraded your subscription, but your printer still won't recognize the change or allow you to print. I'll be happy to help.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Is your subscription HP Instant Ink or the HP All-In Plan?
  • What is the exact HP printer model?
  • What error message are you seeing on the printer display or in the HP app? Please share the exact wording if possible.
  • Did you receive a confirmation that your subscription upgrade was completed?
  • Is your printer connected to the internet? (An internet connection is required for the printer to receive subscription updates.)
  • Has the printer ever recognized your subscription correctly, or did the issue begin immediately after upgrading?

If possible, please also share:

  • A photo or screenshot of the error message.
  • A screenshot of your subscription status from your HP account (please ensure any personal information is hidden).

In the meantime, please check the following:

  1. Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the internet.
  2. Wait a few minutes to allow the printer to synchronize with your HP account after the subscription change.
  3. Restart the printer by turning it off, waiting about 30 seconds, and turning it back on. This helps refresh the printer's connection to the subscription service.

Once we have the details above, we'll be able to determine whether the issue is related to the subscription, printer connectivity, or account synchronization, and guide you with the appropriate next steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
