Hi @Tereah

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2755e printer is not recognizing a new black ink cartridge. You can follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure that you have the correct ink cartridge model for your HP DeskJet 2755e printer. You should be using HP 67 or HP 67XL ink cartridges for this model.

Inspect the Cartridge:

  • Remove the ink cartridge from the printer and carefully inspect it for any protective tape that might still be attached. If there is any orange tape covering the copper-colored contacts or nozzles, gently remove it.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Even though you have already wiped the contacts with a dry cloth, it’s important to ensure there's no debris or dirt. Turn off the printer, remove the cartridge, and use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to carefully clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge itself. Avoid touching the nozzles or ink outlet.

Inspect the Cartridge Slot:

  • Inspect the contacts inside the printer where the cartridge goes. Using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water, gently wipe the contacts inside to remove any potential debris.

Reset the Printer:

  • After cleaning, turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in, turn it on, and reinstall the ink cartridge.

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Carefully reinstall the black ink cartridge into its designated slot. Ensure it is fully inserted and that it clicks into place.

Check for Printer Updates:

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Use HP App:

  • If the issue persists, use the HP App to perform an ink level check or run a diagnostic test to see if any issues are detected.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
