Hi @William2396, thanks for posting. Sorry to hear about the cartridge error on your DeskJet 2900.
Instant Ink cartridges only work in the printer enrolled on your plan, and the printer must stay connected to the internet so HP can activate them. Check in the HP app/hpsmart.com that this DeskJet 2900 is the printer enrolled in your Instant Ink account and that it's online. If the cartridges shipped don't match your printer, Instant Ink support will replace them: https://support.hp.com/contact-hp
This usually happens because of dirty contacts, leftover protective tape, or because the printer's dynamic security blocks non-HP, refilled or wrong-region cartridges.
- Remove the cartridge and make sure all protective tape is removed.
- Gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridge (and in the carriage) with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water; let them dry.
- Reinsert it firmly until it clicks, then do a power reset (unplug for 60 seconds, plug directly into the wall).
If it is a third-party cartridge, contact the seller for a replacement. Let me know how it goes!
