Hello, I recently got a new wifi router and my printer was having trouble connecting to web services. The tools available initialized a soft reset on my printer which is connected to instant ink and has current instant ink cartridges installed. After the soft reset on my printer, I'm stuck at printing alignment page, but cannot print with the current cartridges installed.
I have tried re-enrolling this printer in Instant Ink, but I'm stuck in a loop and cannot bypass. After trying to re-enroll in instant ink on the new printer, I get looped into a no internet connection on my printer even though the wifi light is lit up blue.
PLEASE HELP!! I'm fairly tech savvy and I cannot find my way out of the loop. I figured out how to bypass the the "safe" menu, but there isn't anything on there to bypass printing the alignment page to finish configuring the printer after the reset.

Hi @meggy-920,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it can be to get stuck in a loop with printer setup, especially when dealing with an Instant Ink subscription and network issues. Here's a detailed guide to help you resolve the problem with your HP printer after a soft reset, focusing on alignment page issues and Instant Ink enrollment:
1. Verify Printer Connectivity
a. Check Wi-Fi Connection:
- Wi-Fi Signal: Make sure the printer is properly connected to your new Wi-Fi network. The blue light indicates a connection, but ensure it’s the correct network.
- Network Settings: On the printer, navigate to Setup > Network or Wireless settings to confirm it’s connected to the correct network.
b. Print Network Configuration Page:
- Print Configuration: Go to Setup > Network > Print Network Configuration Page to ensure the printer is on the right network and has an IP address.
2. Resolve Instant Ink Enrollment Issues
a. Check Instant Ink Status:
- HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device and check the status of your Instant Ink subscription.
- Website: Visit HP Instant Ink and log in to your account to verify your printer’s status and subscription details.
b. Re-Enroll in Instant Ink:
- Remove Printer: Remove the printer from your Instant Ink account, then add it back.
- Follow Instructions: Follow the instructions on the HP Instant Ink website or app to re-enroll your printer.
3. Complete Printer Setup
a. Align the Printer:
- Printer Control Panel: If stuck at the alignment page, check the control panel for options to bypass or retry alignment.
- Check Cartridges: Ensure that the Instant Ink cartridges are correctly installed and not damaged.
b. Complete Alignment Process:
- Follow Prompts: Follow the on-screen prompts to print the alignment page and scan it if required.
- Check Printer Manual: Refer to the printer’s manual for specific instructions on completing the alignment process.
4. Bypass or Resolve Alignment Page Issues
a. Hard Reset:
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This may resolve temporary glitches.
b. Access Printer Menu:
- Menu Navigation: Use the printer’s control panel to navigate through the menus. Look for options related to setup, maintenance, or printer tools that might help bypass the alignment page.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
