I cannot get rid of the blue vertical line on the page. It happens when I print in color and black and white. I have run several cleaning pages and the problem still persists.

Hi @bootk002,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

A persistent vertical blue line that appears in both color and black-and-white output is commonly linked to scanner glass contamination, dust inside the scanner glass, miscalibration, or scanner glass damage on supported HP large-format scanning/copying devices.

What to try:

Clean the scanner glass plate and the original:

  • HP notes that vertical streaks/lines are often caused by dust particles inside the scanner.

  • Clean the scanner’s glass plate and then try the job again.

Calibrate the scanner:

  • If the line remains, recalibrate the scanner.

  • Make sure the maintenance sheet is clean and not damaged before calibration.

Inspect the scanner glass:

  • If the line still appears, visually check whether the glass plate is scratched or broken.

  • If damaged.

Clean inside the glass area if needed:

  • If the issue continues, HP indicates there may be dust particles inside the glass plate, which may require careful internal cleaning.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
