I have the ENVY Photo 7800 series, as I was printing my documents for work it stopped working. It just says Cannot print. Connect printer to update HP Instant Ink status. I press connect and it takes me to this other message saying the printer is being updated this process might take several minutes. It also gave a tip saying you can check the HP Instant Link status by touching the mail with a droplet icon on the Home Screen. I go on the Home Screen and click on the icon and it just goes back to cannot print. Connect printer to update HP Instant Ink status. I need help as I need to print urgently. I’ve tried resetting the network, restarting my devices and printer and the internet but nothing worked.

If you encounter issues with your HP ENVY Photo 7800 Series printer, particularly related to an inability to print due to HP Instant Ink status updates, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Check HP Instant Ink Status:

  • Touch the mail icon with a droplet on the Home screen.
  • Verify the status of your HP Instant Ink subscription and whether there are any updates or actions required.

Connect Printer to Update HP Instant Ink Status:

  • Ensure your printer is connected to the internet.
  • Navigate to the settings menu and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer and perform the update.

Perform Printer Update:

  • Press "Connect" when prompted to update the HP Instant Ink status.
  • Allow the printer to complete any updates. This process might take several minutes.

Manual Connection and Status Check:

  • Ensure that your Wi-Fi connection is stable and that the printer is within range.
  • You can print a wireless test report from the Wireless Summary menu to diagnose any network connection issues.

Restart Printer and Retry:

  • Turn off the printer, wait a few moments, and then turn it back on.
  • Retry the process of connecting and updating the Instant Ink status.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and use the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility from the HP website. This tool can diagnose and fix many common issues related to printing.
