Hi @Ernie1934,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 8020 printer shows that the ink levels are okay but is not printing blue (cyan), here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check for Clogged Printhead:
- Print a nozzle check pattern to see if the blue (cyan) ink is being printed.
- If the blue is missing or incomplete, the printhead might be clogged.
- Use the printer’s utility software to run a printhead cleaning cycle. This can usually be found in the printer maintenance section of the software.
Align the Printhead:
- Sometimes, print quality issues can be resolved by aligning the printhead. This option is also found in the printer maintenance section.
Manually Clean the Printhead:
- If automatic cleaning does not work, you can try manually cleaning the printhead.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it. Open the printer and locate the printhead.
- Use a lint-free cloth and distilled water or a printhead cleaning solution to gently clean the printhead.
Check for Air Bubbles:
- If the printer uses an ink tank system, there might be air bubbles in the ink lines.
- Tap the cartridges gently to release any trapped air bubbles.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can fix bugs that might cause printing issues.
Run Diagnostic Reports:
- Some printers allow you to run diagnostic reports that can help identify the issue. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to print a diagnostic report.
Remove and Reinsert the Cartridge:
- Turn off the printer, remove the blue (cyan) cartridge, and then reinsert it. Sometimes, reseating the cartridge can resolve the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
