My printer will NOT shut off manually. When I leave my printer on and it goes into standby mode and I go to print something the  HP Smart can't find my printer so I have to shut it off manually to reboot the printer so HP Smart can once again find my printer. Well my printer will NOT turn off. I hit the button and I get the blue swirl and it says shutting down but it NEVER actually shuts down. It just stays like that (I left it once overnight and it still hadn't shut off when I got up) until I just have to unplug it. When I run a diagnostic test the website never finds an issue. I pay for the insta-ink but they won't ship to me because they can't get a daily readings on my printer because I HAVE to have it on the setting where it shuts it's self off after 2 hours of no use because this is the only way the printer will shut off without me having to unplug the darn thing. I am desperate for help but can NEVER get in touch with a live agent to fix the issue because the website can't find an issue and I NEED ink but am NOT paying for it when I pay for a subscription monthly to get ink sent to me. HOW DO I GET THIS THING TO STAY ONLINE SO HP SMART CAN FIND IT ALL THE TIME OR TO GET IT TO TURN OFF WITHOUT UNPLUGGING IT????  PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try to reset the Printer here:

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

Update the firmware: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Let me know if this helps.
