Hi @cvmarq,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can feel how exhausting this must be when your printer, something you rely on daily, becomes a source of stress instead of support. You're doing everything right by trying to hardwire it and troubleshoot, and I’m here to help you take back control of your printing experience.

HP Instant Ink is a subscription service that requires an active internet connection to validate cartridge usage. If your printer is offline or hardwired via USB, it may block printing until it reconnects to HP’s servers. This is especially frustrating when your internet isn’t reliable in your current location.

Two Paths Forward

Option 1: Cancel Instant Ink Subscription

If you’d prefer to use your printer freely without internet dependency, you can cancel Instant Ink and switch to regular cartridges.

Here’s how to cancel:

  1. Go to the HP Instant Ink Service | HP® Support.
  2. Sign in with your HP account.
  3. Select your printer.
  4. Click Cancel My HP Instant Ink Subscription and follow the prompts.
  5. You’ll receive a confirmation email once it’s processed.

If you’re struggling to reach a real person, you can also contact HP Support directly.

Option 2: Update Drivers to Improve Connectivity

If you’d rather keep Instant Ink and try to fix the internet issue, updating your printer’s drivers and firmware might help.

🔧 Download the latest full-feature drivers here: 👉 support.hp.com/us-en

Make sure to:

  • Disconnect from any VPN before downloading.
  • Use HP Easy Start to install the full-featured software.
  • Restart your PC and printer after installation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
