Hi @Maria21072,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the "Printhead Not Detected" error on your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer can be caused by various issues, including improper installation, dirty contacts, or a malfunctioning printhead.

Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Check Printhead Installation

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Open the printer to access the printhead.
  3. Carefully remove the printhead and then reinsert it, ensuring it clicks into place properly.
  4. Close the printer, plug it back in, and turn it on.

2. Clean the Printhead Contacts

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Open the printer to access the printhead.
  3. Remove the printhead.
  4. Using a lint-free cloth and distilled water, gently clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the printer where the printhead connects.
  5. Allow the contacts to dry completely.
  6. Reinstall the printhead, close the printer, plug it back in, and turn it on.

3. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause hardware recognition issues.

  1. Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
  2. Download and install any available firmware updates.

4. Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

5. Replace the Printhead

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, the printhead might be faulty and need replacement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi thank you for replying all the information, I did try all of the above including I replaced two new different printheads I'm still getting the same error is there anything else I can do? It would be a coincidence that the two that I received from Amazon would be defected they were new so I'm thinking something is wrong with my printer not the printhead this is the reason why it's not detecting it assuming it's missing if you have more information that you could provide me that would be great and thank you for everything
