Hi @Tstewart5227,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer feeds paper but does not print anything on it, even though the black Instant Ink cartridge shows full. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check cartridge compatibility and status
Instant Ink printers require all installed cartridges to be working properly, even if you’re printing in black only.
If the color cartridge is very low, empty, or not recognized correctly, the printer may feed paper but not print.

Reseat both ink cartridges
Open the cartridge access door and remove both the black and color cartridges.
Reinsert them firmly until they click into place, then close the door.

Check for cartridge errors in HP Smart
Open the HP Smart app and review printer status messages.
Look for warnings such as “cartridge problem,” “incompatible cartridge,” or “cartridge needs replacement.”

Clean the printheads
In HP Smart, go to Printer Settings or Tools and run Printhead Cleaning.
This clears dried ink or clogs that can cause blank pages.

Print a diagnostic or test page
Use HP Smart or the printer’s control panel to print a test page.
If the page comes out blank, this confirms an ink delivery or cartridge issue.

Make sure the color cartridge is not empty or expired
Even though the color cartridge is not Instant Ink, it must still contain usable ink.
Replace the color cartridge if it is empty, expired, or showing an error.

Check paper type and print settings
Confirm plain paper is loaded correctly and not glossy or photo paper.
In print settings, ensure the paper type matches what is loaded.

Restart the printer
Turn the printer off, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
This resets the ink system and often restores printing.

I hope this helps.
