I have a printer that won’t print unless I pay to print with the inkjet subscription. I hate that because I want to print for free not have to pay.is there anyway around this whack service?

Hi @aahrelaxdotnet,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

If your printer is part of the HP Instant Ink subscription service and you prefer to print without a subscription, here are some steps you can consider to bypass the necessity of a subscription:

Cancel the HP Instant Ink Subscription:

  • Log in to your HP Instant Ink account on the HP website.
  • Navigate to the 'My Account' section and find your plan details.
  • Choose the option to cancel your subscription. Once canceled, you might need to replace the Instant Ink cartridges with standard ones, as Instant Ink cartridges are associated with the subscription.

Purchase Standard HP Ink Cartridges:

  • Replace the Instant Ink cartridges with regular HP cartridges. Instant Ink cartridges cannot be used if the subscription is canceled, as they are tied to the service.
  • Ensure that you purchase the correct model of cartridges compatible with your printer to ensure smooth functionality.

Factory Reset the Printer:

  • Some printers allow a factory reset that might disassociate the subscription settings. Check your printer's manual for instructions, but be aware this does not guarantee that Instant Ink requirements will be removed entirely.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date through the HP Software & Driver Downloads page, as some updates may address connectivity or cartridge recognition issues.

I hope this helps.
