I have a OfficeJet pro 9125E
I had the instant ink subscription for about three months I canceled it as I really don’t print a whole lot. I put official HP ink cartridges into the printer as was required. Everything seemed to work fine until yesterday now I’m getting a warning message there is a problem with my HP account and I will no longer be allowed to print. I have logged into my HP account multiple times. there is no error messages or problems. I have contacted HP. They do not see a problem. I have done multiple hard resets, two factory resets, and I’m still getting this error message
I did turn off web services
made no difference, i’m starting to really regret subscribing to instant ink
I have seen comments. People have posted in the past where they have had problems with their printers after canceling instant ink even though they did install official HP ink cartridges
I severely need my printer and if this is due to instant ink, this is basically over $300 wasted as I will have to purchase another printer definitely will not be a HP printer after experiencing this if I cannot get this fixed
any ideas or help are greatly appreciated

@Hoodcanalman67, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's understandably frustrating, especially when you've done everything right by using official HP cartridges after canceling Instant Ink. Here's a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e:
Please ensure you're using standard HP 936 cartridges, not Instant Ink ones. Instant Ink cartridges only work in enrolled printers.
Remove Web Services Completely
You mentioned turning off Web Services, but let’s ensure it’s fully disabled:
- On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Web Services > Remove Web Services.
- Restart the printer after this step.
Update Firmware
Outdated firmware can cause account-related errors, especially after Instant Ink cancellation.
- Go to: HP Software and Driver Downloads
- Download and install the latest firmware for your printer.
Reset HP Account Association
Sometimes the printer remains linked to your HP account even after cancellation.
- Visit HP Smart Dashboard
- Remove the printer from your account.
- Re-add it using the serial number and ensure it’s not enrolled in Instant Ink.
Factory Reset (Advanced)
You’ve already tried resets, but here’s the deep reset method:
- Turn off the printer.
- Hold Back + Cancel buttons.
- While holding, turn the printer back on.
- Release buttons when the HP logo appears.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
