Common problems for INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Instant Ink. Check out this link: HP INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER. .

Hello, I had to set my printer to factory settings to try to resolve a number of printing problems. Now I've lost my Instant Ink subscription, so I need to re-instate it. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Also, I was sent an ink cartridge about a year ago (I don't print a great deal) and, after insertion, the print outs are faint so possibly the cartridge is dry and i need another one sent to me. How does one get in touch with an actual human working at the company? It's extremely frustrating.

Hi @Zozo03

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the situation and will guide you through reinstating your Instant Ink account and addressing the cartridge concern.

Re‑instating Instant Ink after a factory reset
When a printer is reset to factory settings, it disconnects from your Instant Ink subscription. To reconnect:

  1. Open the HP App on your phone or computer.
  2. Add your printer again by following the on‑screen prompts.
  3. Sign in with the same HP account you used for Instant Ink.
  4. Once the printer is added, Instant Ink should automatically re‑link to your subscription.

Detailed instructions are available here: HP Instant Ink – Reconnect Your Printer

Cartridge issue
If the cartridge has been unused for a long period, it may have dried out. In this case:

  • Log in to your Instant Ink account at the link above.
  • Check your cartridge status and request a replacement if needed.
  • HP will send a new cartridge as part of your subscription.

Contacting HP Support directly
To speak with an HP support representative:

  • Visit HP Instant Ink Support and select Contact HP Support.
  • You can choose chat or phone support depending on your region.

This way, your subscription can be reinstated and a fresh cartridge arranged.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
