I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

I changed the 950XL black ink cartridge because it was low on ink. I used a brand new Genuine HP cartridge.  When I loaded the new cartridge, I get a message on the screen:

" Incomparable Ink Cartridge"

" The  following cartridges are not intended to be used in this printer. K

The 950XL is the only one I am changing. If I put the old 950XL in, the printer accepts it and everything is normal.  I went back to the store and exchanged for another new 950XL with the same results.

Any ideas?

@sizebob, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates.

For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

And also, follow the steps from the document Incompatible ink cartridges for help.
