I signed up for the HP Instant Ink subscription at $1.98, and it was only for a few months. Then the fee was immediately increased to $2.40, and this month I was charged $4.39.
However, during my entire subscription period, I only received ink once. I believe I should not have been charged these amounts without receiving the service as promised.
Since I have now cancelled my subscription (effective September 9, 2025), I would like to request a refund for the charges beyond the first $1.98 payment, as well as for the month(s) when I did not receive any ink.
Please let me know how we can resolve this matter promptly.
Thank you for your attention.

Hi @Yoonjin,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We understand you are concerned about the recent changes to your Instant Ink plan charges and that you have only received one ink shipment during your subscription.
We would like to clarify how the HP Instant Ink program works:
- The monthly subscription fee is based on the number of pages you print, not the number of ink cartridges you receive.
- Ink is shipped automatically when our system detects your printer’s ink levels are low, not on a fixed schedule. This means you may not receive cartridges every month if your printing volume is low or if you still have enough ink.
- Your monthly fee covers the agreed page allowance, monitoring, and replacement ink shipments when needed, regardless of how often shipments occur.
Regarding your charges:
- Subscription fees can change based on the Instant Ink plan you are on, changes you make to your plan, or adjustments HP makes to pricing. These changes are communicated in advance via email to the registered account address.
- The fee increases from $1.98 to $2.40 and then to $4.39 may have been due to a plan change or overage charges (additional pages beyond your plan’s allowance). You can review these details by logging into your Instant Ink account at www.hpinstantink.com and checking your Billing History.
Since you have now cancelled your subscription (effective September 9, 2025), we can review your account for any billing discrepancies. If we find that you were charged incorrectly or for periods when the service was not delivered as described, HP will process the appropriate refund.
Please reply with your Instant Ink account email address and printer serial number, in private, so we can try to check and help better.
Keep us posted
Take care and have an amazing day!
