HP Envy Photo 7858

Hi there,

I inherited a printer from someone. I can't install new ink cartridges. I get a message stating that I can only use Instant Ink. I googled how to remove instant ink from the printer but I can't seem to work out that protocol. I do not have access to the original owner. I'm restoring the factory settings now, but I could use some support in figuring this out. Thank you!

Welcome to the HP Community --

You might need an agent to help sort the issue.

In general, you can remove all the Instant Ink cartridges from the printer, then purchase and install a new set of HP ink cartridges.

For this to work, the Instant Ink subscription that belonged to the original owner must have been terminated.

In general, if the subscription plan goes unpaid, HP will terminate the service and the subscription.

If, however, for some reason the subscription is still active -- or if there is something else tangled -- that is where you will need help.

What?  The reason is just as you say, it's not your service and you don't have access to the contract.

Were it mine to do, I'd first try contacting Instant Ink Support.

If that doesn't work, you are in the right place -- it is not always as quick but we do have HP people who monitor the Instant Ink board for issues needing agent attention.  "Hang in there."  I will alert the moderator team about your situation.
