I'm trying to remove my HP DeskJet 2720e All-in-One Printer from my HP Instant Ink account.
On the HP Smart dashboard, I click Printers->Printer Options->Remove Printer.
I then click the 2 confirmation windows to confirm.
A window then appears stating "Your HP DeskJet 2700 All-in-One Printer series is enrolled in HP Instant Ink and can't be removed until your subscription is cancelled."
Then after clicking Manage Subscription it shows that it is indeed already cancelled. The plan details window states "There are no active plans for this printer". Why is it not disconnecting the printer from my account?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- Sign Out & Sign Back In – Sometimes, logging out of your HP account and logging back in can refresh the status.
- Restart Your Printer & Computer – Power cycle both devices to see if that helps recognize the cancellation.
- Check HP Smart App Updates – Make sure your HP Smart app is updated to the latest version.
- Contact HP Support – If the issue persists, it may be best to reach out to HP support directly. They might need to manually remove the printer from your account.

it sounds like your printer is still linked to HP Instant Ink despite the cancellation. Try signing out and back into your HP account to refresh the status. If the issue persists, you may need to contact HP Support directly to manually remove the printer. Sometimes, there can be a delay in the system updating the cancellation. Let us know if you find a solution!"
This keeps it helpful, acknowledges the issue, and suggests a few troubleshooting steps. Let me know if you'd like it adjusted!

The cancelling from the subscription is a complete nightmare. You hold the printer hostage with no way for the consumer to break free of the subscription. It's a joke and should not be the case. NONE of the way this unfolds is communicated to the consumer upon cancellation. None of it. There should be very specific instructions provided upon cancellation to help the consumer regain control over their device again. Instead, HP stays connected to it even when you try and remove the printer from the account. I have removed it so many times and I can still see that you are connected to it.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to all who posted on my thread offering help. I never actually fixed this issue as even now the HP Instant Ink dashboard still thinks this printer is connected to an active subscription, even though the ink subscription was confirmed cancelled dated from my first post on this thread. After numerous power on and offs, no luck. The ink has since been removed and sent for recycling, as has the printer too.
Just an FYI here. As of right now when I post this message, HP Ink Dashboard still says the printer is connected to the ink subscription even when I click manage subscription the window comes up and says the subscription was already ended on the 20th Feb. A glitch or bug in the HP system perhaps. Maybe a techy person may want to take a look.
