@cmrissa, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding How to Reset and Register Your HP Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To ensure that your daughter can register your HP printer and use it smoothly, follow these steps:

Step 1: Reset the Printer

  1. Restore Factory Defaults: To reset the printer’s settings, most HP printers have a 'Restore Factory Defaults' option. Navigate to the printer’s menu and select this option. This is usually found under 'Settings' or 'Tools.'
  2. Remove Previous Settings: Clearing the previous settings ensures that there are no residual configurations that might interfere with her setup.

Step 2: Unregister Your Printer

  • Deactivate Subscriptions or Services: If you had any subscriptions or services, such as HP Instant Ink or Auto Toner Ordering, make sure to deactivate them from your account.
  • HP Smart App or HP Account: Log into the HP Smart App or HP Account where the printer was registered and remove the device from the list. This will unregister your ownership and allow her to register under her account.

Step 3: Register the Printer Under Your Daughter's Account

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi: Ensure the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network she intends to use.
  2. Download the HP Smart App: Install the HP Smart App on her device and create an HP account if she doesn’t have one already.
  3. Add Printer: Use the HP Smart App to add the printer. This will guide her through the registration and setup process.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
