Setup ink cartridges

HP Envy 5055

For my HP Envy 5055 printer, the SetUp ink cartridges that came with the printer are damaged. I tried to buy new ink cartridges but the printer keeps saying I have to use the Setup ink cartridges. I put the Setup cartridges in and it says to replace them and that there is an error. How can I use the new ink cartridges(which are the exact same as the Setup ones)?

I’m having pretty much the same problem. I accidentally used larger ink cartridges when I was installing the printer. When I realized I needed to use the set up ink I put it in but now it just keeps telling me to use the setup ink. Btw I had originally put the set up ink in my older HP printer, then took it out and put it in the 5055. It’s not working. It won’t set up. I went through the process to reset it twice, but no change. Help please!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

  • Did you not receive the setup ink cartridges with this printer?
  • If you have, did you try inserting both the setup ink cartridges and check if the error persists?
  • Setup ink cartridges are required to initialize the printer.

We will have to perform a reset to bypass this error.

  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
