HP OfficeJet Pro 8128e All-in-One

I noticed a shipment was sent to us today & we have moved addresses. I realized quickly that I neglected to update my address in our HP Account. Our ink was sent to the wrong address. What are my options currently?

@SimplySourdough,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Don't worry, this happens more often than you think. Because HP Instant Ink and HP Store shipments frequently use carriers like UPS, FedEx, or DHL, a standard USPS forwarding request might not catch your package.

Here are your best options and immediate steps to fix this:

1. Update Your Account Immediately:

Log into your HP Account / Instant Ink Dashboard right away. Update your shipping address under your profile settings. This prevents future automated shipments from going to the old address.

2. Check the Tracking Link:

Look at the shipping confirmation email HP sent you today. Identify which carrier is handling the package:

  • If it is USPS: You can try submitting a USPS Intercept request online, though standard forwarding may or may not catch it depending on the mail class.
  • If it is FedEx or UPS: Sign up for or log into FedEx Delivery Manager or UPS My Choice. If the tracking status permits, you can request a "Hold for Pickup" at a nearby location or request a reroute. (Note: HP sometimes restricts address changes on active shipments for security reasons, but a hold for pickup at a local facility is often allowed).

3. Contact HP Support directly:

Since this is an automated ink shipment, the quickest resolution is often contacting HP Support directly through your dashboard's live chat. Let them know the shipment went to your old address before you could update it.

  • HP is generally very helpful with Instant Ink address mishaps and will usually log the mistake and dispatch a replacement ink order to your new address.

4. What to do if you run out of ink:

If your printer runs completely dry before the replacement arrives, you can purchase a standard retail set of HP 910/916 ink cartridges (compatible with your OfficeJet Pro 8128e) at a local store to keep printing in the meantime.

If you want more specific carrier instructions, just let me know which shipping provider HP used for this package!

Kind Regards,
