Is there a way to skip instant ink shipments? I have a few cartridges but I am going to purchase a new printer that takes a different cartridge. I don't want to stop my plan because I have a lot of rollover pages that I will need to use soon. I just don't want any more of the current cartridge.

Hi @PKTeacher110,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see you have a query about the instant ink. I will surely look into this.
I would like to inform you that the Cartridges will only be shipped when the printer detects that the ink cartridges installed on the printer are low on ink. Replacement cartridges are sent when your printer tells HP you need more ink or toner, not by the month.
If you have the backup cartridges, that will also be considered by the Instant Ink server so it will not trigger a shipment.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi. Thanks for your response. I understand that the ink is only sent when it detects the printer is low and that it takes my backup cartridges into consideration. I would like to use up all of the ink I have before switching to my new printer that takes a different cartridge. Is there a way to not get additional cartridges even if the printer says I am low? If not, can I return the unopened cartridges and exchange for the new cartridges?

Hi @PKTeacher110,
Thank you for your response. I would like to inform you that, you may print without any concern.
The server will not read the cartridges as you already have the backup cartridges.
If you want to return the unused cartridges, you may follow the steps mentioned below:
We encourage you to return your used ink cartridges using the postage-paid recycling envelopes included in your box. You can also request an envelope from your account dashboard. You can fit several cartridges in each recycling envelope, so not all your shipments will include a new envelope. For toner cartridges, use the printed shipping label in the box or print a shipping label from your dashboard.
All cartridges received will be recycled by HP Planet Partners. Information varies by country.
HP Instant Ink or toner cartridges are the property of HP and must be returned when empty, or when your service is canceled.
Recycle ink cartridges: Postage-paid recycling envelopes are included with most ink cartridge shipments. To maximize environmental benefits, wait until you have three to eight empty ink cartridges, fill the envelope, and then send them back together. If you do not have a postage-paid recycling envelope, either wait for the next shipment or order an extra envelope.
Recycle toner cartridges: Prepaid return address labels for toner recycling are provided with most shipments. Use the packaging the replacement toner came in to return toner being recycled, or use your own packaging with the supplied label.
Recycle a non-HP Instant Ink part: Go to HP Product return and recycling for more information.
To order another envelope or prepaid return address label:
- Sign into your account:
- Home / Home Office: Sign into your Instant Ink account
- Business: Sign into your Instant Ink for Business account
- Click HP Instant Ink, then Overview in the left menu.
- Click Recycle your ink cartridge or Recycle your toner cartridge at the bottom of the Cartridge Status area.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
