I was enrolled in the Smart Ink program at some point last year and had $120 charged on my card after going over a printer limit. -Which we didn't know we had, because I had disenrolled from the program when I first set up the printer. After cancelling the subscription on 4/21/25, I was told by a representative that if I purchase ink from the store and use it, the printer would work. Now with the store-bought ink in the printer, it will not work, and HP is telling me I have to pay the $120 to use the printer even with the ink I bought from the store. Has anyone else experienced something like this? For $60 I can buy a competitor printer, and I refuse to pay for services I was never aware of and suddenly billed for. HP could not tell me when I was enrolled in the Smart Ink program, and the representative is unable to contact a supervisor and is saying they will just tell me the same thing. This is unacceptable, and I wonder if this has happened to others?
