Hi @DVCllc2023,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To use your HP printer independently without relying on the HP Instant Ink subscription service, you can follow these steps to cancel the subscription and switch to purchasing your own ink and paper:

1. Cancel HP Instant Ink Subscription:

Log in to your HP Instant Ink account:

  • Visit the HP Instant Ink website and log in with your account credentials.

Navigate to Account Settings:

  • Go to your account settings or subscription settings.

Cancel Subscription:

  • Look for an option to cancel your subscription. This might be under a section labeled "Manage Subscription" or similar.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the cancellation process.

Confirm Cancellation:

  • Make sure you receive a confirmation email or notification that your subscription has been successfully canceled.

2. Buy Your Own Ink and Paper:

Determine the Correct Ink Cartridges:

  • Check your printer's manual or the HP website to find the specific ink cartridge model numbers that are compatible with your printer.
  • Examples: HP 65, HP 67, HP 950, etc., depending on your printer model.

Purchase Ink Cartridges:

  • Buy genuine HP ink cartridges from a trusted retailer. You can find them at office supply stores, electronics stores, or online retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, or directly from the HP Store.
  • Ensure you buy the correct cartridge model for your printer.

Purchase Paper:

  • Standard printer paper can be purchased from any office supply store or retailer that sells printer supplies. Brands and types can vary based on your specific printing needs (e.g., plain paper, photo paper, etc.).

3. Replace Ink Cartridges:

Turn on Your Printer:

  • Ensure your printer is powered on and has paper loaded.

Open the Ink Cartridge Access Door:

  • Open the door to access the ink cartridges. This will vary depending on your printer model.

Remove the Old Cartridges:

  • Press the tab on the cartridge to release it and remove it from the slot.

Install the New Cartridges:

  • Take the new cartridge out of its packaging.
  • Remove any protective tape or covers from the cartridge.
  • Insert the new cartridge into the appropriate slot and press down until it clicks into place.

Close the Access Door:

  • Close the ink cartridge access door and wait for the printer to initialize the new cartridge.

4. Update Printer Settings (if necessary):

Access Printer Settings:

  • Use the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app to navigate to the printer settings.

5. Print a Test Page:

  • Print a test page to ensure that the new cartridges are installed correctly and that the printer is functioning properly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
