OfficeJet 6970 Envy 7134
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Happy with Instant Ink system. Not happy with Printer Support for my unreliable OfficeJet 6970 refusing to print in blue.

 

Thinking of getting an Envy 7134 and transferring my 100 page account to it and getting an extra 15 page free account for the OfficeJet 6970. Its ADF is excellent, so I can use it for scanning and the odd mono photocopy. Can I do this?

 

Also, a new Envy 7134 printer bought from Argos comes with 5 months Instant Ink. Can this be used with my current 100 page account?

@Whitemonk I'm happy for the 7134, that said, once you've upgraded to a higher plan, I'm afraid you cannot switch back or downgrade the plan to the 15-page free plan as per the terms found here

 

No Downgrades. If You upgrade an Enrolled Printer from the 15-Free Program to a paid Service Plan (an “Upgraded Printer”), You may not subsequently downgrade the Upgraded Printer in order to return to the 15-Free Program. Additionally, You may not downgrade a printer from a paid Service Plan to the 15-Free Program.

@Whitemonk Welcome to HP Community!

If you purchased a new printer, follow these steps to keep your Instant Ink account, but replace the printer it is connected to.

  1. Set up your new printer. Make sure to SKIP any Instant Ink offers you see during printer setup. HP Instant Ink cartridges that were used in one printer cannot be used in another printer.

  2. To transfer your Instant Ink account from the original to the replacement printer, sign in to your HP Instant Ink account.

  3. If you have more than one printer, select the printer you are replacing.

  4. If you see a ‘Printer Replacement notification’, click Continue in that notification. If you do not see the notification, click Enroll/Replace Printer in the Status area.

  5. If you need help connecting your printer to the wireless network and enabling web services, follow the on-screen instructions.

I have lost confidence in the 6970 as a printer, so I have now purchased the 7134, but only as my main printer. I have added it separately to the Instant Ink plan and have qualified for the five month incentive offer. I would retain the 6970 for its excellent ADF scanner.

 

What I had hoped to do was to downgrade the Instant Ink plan for the 6970 to the Free Printing Plan, so I could try to print the occasional copy, but it appears not to be eligible. Please can you explain why? If I cancelled the plan and re-enrolled, would I be offered the Free Printing Plan?
