Can anybody justify the price increases for instant ink in recent times. Not long ago £1.99 for 50 pages, now £1.49 for 10 pages. That's an increase of 272%. I know the absolute numbers are small but the principle remains. Why is HP ripping us off?

Hi @RonL5,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Price changes, especially significant ones like the example you've provided with HP's Instant Ink service, can be a source of frustration and concern for consumers.

Instant Ink is always optional, this is true whether you have never had a subscription or if you have a subscription now and wish to cancel the service.

  • Thank you for  your prompt reply Rachel but it hardly addresses the question of why HP impose such a drastic price increase on their customers. To say one has two options, take it or leave it, hardly results in customer satisfaction. I guess there us nothing you can do personally and I guess the decision ultimately is mine. Although the individual sum is relatively trivial, the collective increase to HP is significant, unjustified and unacceptable. On principle I am minded to cancel my subscription and would encourage others to do likewise.

My Instant Ink went for £9'99 to £11.99 with no warning, and no attempt to justify why this might be so much (probably because there is no reasonable justification for a rise of this extent).
The HP people say that you can cancel your subscription, but you still have to buy from HP because of their anti-competitive software (please take them on EU or USA).
What I know for certain is that when I get a new printer, it won't be an HP and it will be a tank printer.
Greed will kill the goose that lays the golden egg.
The market has changed. The right for people like HP to print money are going, and not soon enough.
You guys make nice printers, but you treat your customers with absolute contempt.

Agree entirely Pete. In my case I am on the bottom tariff as I gave very little printing to do. So the sum to me is trivial but the principle applies - how can such a percentage increase be in any way justified. And with HP's response that I could always cancel my subscription, that's just what I'll do. And I hope others do to. Vote with your feet.
