Hi @xxx899 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the "Unexpected cartridge" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 All-in-One Printer typically indicates that the printer has detected an issue with one or more of the installed ink cartridges. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges you are using are compatible with your printer model. Sometimes, using third-party or remanufactured cartridges can cause this issue.

Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove all the cartridges.
  • Check for any protective tape or packaging materials on the cartridges.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly, ensuring they click into place.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Remove the cartridges again.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer where the cartridges make contact.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.

Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues. Visit HP’s support website and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model. Update the firmware on an HP printer

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Hardware Issues: Inspect the cartridges and printer for any visible damage. If you have another set of cartridges, try installing them to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
