I have cancelled my instant ink subscription and installed my own cartridge.  I get an error message saying I must cancel my ink subscription ( which I already did) and unenroll the printer from my account.  I have tried repeatedly to unenroll the printer but I get a message saying I must first cancel my ink subscription.  I'm in a loop and cannot get out of it.  Any help?

Hi @Tami6001,

When you cancel Instant Ink, the printer stays enrolled until the end of the current billing cycle, so you can't unenroll it before the cancellation actually takes effect, which causes the loop.

  1. Sign in at https://www.hpsmart.com, go to Instant Ink > Plan and confirm the cancellation date is shown.
  2. After that date, remove the printer from the account and reinstall your own cartridges.
  3. If the subscription already shows as ended and the message persists, ask HP Instant Ink support to release the printer from the account: https://support.hp.com/contact-hp
