BACKGROUND: My OfficeJet Pro 8610 Web Services (WS) won't connect to my instant ink account a few weeks back. I contacted Support and the person helping me deleted it. Frustrated after hours in, I printed the Web-connect page and went to bed. Last week I decided to try again to connect WS with no success so I went online to the instant ink account and it wanted the code from that page but when I put the code in it said it was invalid. Took a few minutes but I finally figured out the code had expired. So I followed my notes from Support and again deleted and are-enabled WS and printed the page with a new code.

PROBLEM: Web Services won't allow the reuse of a previous email address, instead it forces you to create a new email address! Is there a way to reuse or continue using an email address previously set up because you know no one else will ever use it because it's associated with your email account more than 30 years old?

@Cgaylord5784, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that you have concerns related to web services. Yes, the claim code is only valid for 24 hours.

Are you referring to the ePrint email address?

If yes, refer to - Change your HP printer ePrint email address

If you get a prompt that the custom ePrint email already exists, it might be assigned to the printer on a previous HP account or Web Services was turned off during the transfer.

  1. Sign in to the previous HP Smart (in English) account.

If you do not have access to the previous account, turn Web Services off then on, re-add the printer to the new HP account, and then create a different custom email address. In six months, the previous custom email address should be available to reuse.

  2. Click Remove Printer next to the printer name.

  3. Sign in to the new HP account.

  4. Scroll down to ePrint Address, and then click it to expand the menu, if necessary.

  5. Enter the custom name you want to reuse, and then click Submit.

    Clicking Submit

  6. If the address is still not available, create a different custom address.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

This doesn't help.  The printer didn't change not  had my  account. The only thing changed was Web Services (WS), it  lost connectivity. To fix the issue, it was deleted and had to be a setup again, which forced the  setup of a new eprint email address. The previous eprint email address belongs to my account. My original question was:

Why can't I continue using my already established eprint email address?  It is apparent WS will lose connectivity from time to time. It's the times it has to be deleted and re-enabled which forces a new account and eprint email to be created. Here is where I ask what can't I use my already established eprint email address. Why does it not realize it's in the account it's a saying already s exist?

The web services consider your prior ePrint email address to be taken by another account and will not let you use it. Try these steps:

Sign in to your HP account to change your printer email address.

  1. Sign in to HP Smart, and then click the Account icon  at the top of the webpage.

  2. Select Settings, and then scroll down to Account information.

  3. Select the Edit icon next to Primary email address.

    Clicking the Edit icon

  4. Change the email address, and then click Save.

  5. Repeat these steps to change the Username, if necessary.

Let me know how it goes.
