Hi @samgotmarried

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand how it can be when your printer shows a "Printer Offline Error Code 45" along with alternating blue light flashing. A Code 45 error means your computer has completely lost connection to the printer. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Power Reset the Printer

This helps clear any temporary hardware or communication glitches:

  • Turn ON the printer.
  • Remove the ink cartridges carefully.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  • If connected via USB, disconnect the USB cable as well.
  • Wait for 2–3 minutes.
  • Press and hold the Power button on the printer for 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Reconnect the power to the printer and turn it on.
  • Reinsert the cartridges once prompted.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause communication issues:

Check Printer Connection

  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is connected to the correct network with 2.4GHz
  • If using USB, try a different port or cable.
  • On your PC, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and ensure it's set as default and not paused or offline.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
