Try these steps:
Check Internet Connection:
- Ensure that your printer is connected to a stable internet source.
- Verify that your Wi-Fi network is working properly and reconnect the printer if necessary.
Restart Printer and Router:
- Power off your printer and unplug it from the power supply.
- Restart your router by unplugging it for 60 seconds, plug it back in, and wait until it is fully connected.
- Turn your printer back on and connect it to the network.
Enable Web Services:
- On the printer’s touchscreen display, navigate to Setup.
- Select Printer Maintenance or Web Services Setup.
- Choose Enable Web Services and follow the on-screen instructions.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date by checking for updates via the printer’s control panel.
- Navigate to Setup, then Printer Maintenance, and choose Update the Printer.
Check Firewall Settings:
- Sometimes, security software or firewall settings can block the connection to web services. Ensure these settings allow your printer to access the internet.
Verify Proxy Settings:
- If your network uses a proxy server, you might need to enter these details in the printer’s network settings.
Restore Network Defaults:
- If the issue persists, you can reset the network settings on the printer. Go to Setup, select Network Setup, and choose Restore Network Settings.

Thank you for the response.
Try these steps:
1. Disable and Re-enable Web Services Completely
Let’s force a reset of the Web Services.
On the printer touchscreen:
Go to Setup > Web Services > Remove Web Services
Once removed, go back and choose Enable Web Services
Let the printer attempt to connect to the internet and get a claim code
This re-registration step often resolves hidden connection glitches.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi (Not USB)
Even though you tried USB to the router, Web Services only work over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, not USB.
Please:
Go to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Setup Wizard
Connect the printer back to your Wi-Fi network
Make sure it shows Connected with a valid IP address
You can also print a Wireless Network Test Report from the settings to verify signal strength and connection.
Check Date and Time Settings
Incorrect system date/time can block Web Services.
Do this:
On printer panel, go to Settings > Preferences > Date and Time
Set the correct time zone, date, and time manually
Manual Firmware Update (via USB or HP Smart App)
If the printer’s firmware is out of date, it might block web services.
Option A – HP Smart App:
Open the HP Smart App on your phone or PC
Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Tools
Select Printer Updates
Option B – USB Update via Computer:
Download the latest firmware for HP ENVY 7858 from:
HP Software & Driver Downloads
Follow the instructions to update the printer via USB
