HP Instant Ink not working is not that uncommon and it’s something that we can fix whether you want to continue with your plan or cancel it entirely.
If you’re an HP Instant Ink subscriber, you may have noticed your printer not printing. There are many reasons why this could be happening and we want to make sure that you know how to fix it. We’ll go through the most common issues with HP Instant Ink printers and their solutions so you can bypass HP Instant Ink and get your printer running again.
Why Is My HP Instant Ink Not Working?
The main reason why you might be unable to print with HP Instant Ink cartridges is that the subscription has been canceled. After your final billing cycle ends, HP Instant Ink cartridges no longer work and should be mailed back in a recycling envelope.
Another reason why HP Instant Ink cartridges won’t work is that you are not connected to your wireless network or the Internet. HP needs to monitor your printer activity so they know how many pages you have consumed during your billing period.
One way to check this is to look into the wireless light of your printer. If it’s blinking or turned off, then it means your printer is offline and not connected to your Wi-Fi router. If the light is steady, then there’s nothing to worry about because your HP wireless printer is connected to the Internet.
Lastly, if your printer is connected and HP Instant Ink is still not working, then you should check if you are using Instant Ink cartridges and not just regular HP ink cartridges.
Why Is My HP Printer Not Printing When Instant Ink Cartridges Are Full?
Have you experienced an HP printer that is not printing, even though it has Instant Ink cartridges that are full of inks to do the job? This could be because of a clogged nozzle. The best way to clean a printer head is by using the printer’s self-cleaning mechanism. This mechanism can be useful for lightly blocked printers, but as your inkjet printer gets older it may not work well anymore.
Here’s how to clean and unclog your HP printer nozzles if it’s more than a light clog you’re dealing with.
- Remove the ink cartridges from your HP printer
- Grab a piece of a clean towel and damp it with a little bit of warm water
- Wipe the copper-coloured sensors on your ink cartridges carefully
- Put them back on your printer
- Initiate printhead cleaning
- Test print a document
If the printer is still not printing after doing the steps above, try to do printhead cleaning a couple of more times and test print a document to verify if the printer nozzles are unclogged. Basi
How To Bypass HP Instant Ink?
HP ink cartridges are designed to be used only with HP printers, and the Instant Ink service is required in order for you to use them. If your subscription has expired or been cancelled then all of your ink will stop working at the end of the current billing cycle.
So how do you override HP Instant Ink for you to start printing from your HP printer again?
Time It Takes To Disable HP Instant Ink: 15 minutes
Log in to your HP Instant Ink account
Cancel your account
Find “Manage Subscriptions” and proceed with cancelling your Instant Ink account.
Remove all HP Instant Ink cartridges inside your printer
Take out all Instant Ink cartridges since you won’t be able to use those anymore after cancelling your plan.
Replace them with new HP ink cartridges
Use regular HP instant ink cartridges from now on. If the Instant Ink error message still appears, proceed on doing the next step.
Hard reset your HP printer
Reset your HP printer by unplugging the power cord without using the power button on your machine. Wait for at least two minutes and insert it back into your printer. Press on the power button to turn it on and try printing a document to test it.
Anyone can check once and follow the alternative steps also -
You may cancel enrollment in the HP Instant Ink Program at any time, except you will be retroactively billed for each free month of service you initially received, so you’ve been warned! As the print habits of the majority of the average population vary from month to month, HP’s program is not always the best fit for most folks. Basically, I have faced this issue also when I am working on automated payroll software and related things. But after following all of these steps I resolved those issues. There are some caveats and restrictions within their program; please read the following information carefully (NOTE: extract from HP’s support page):
- HP Instant Ink cartridges do not work after the end of your current billing period, and you are required to return them to HP. To continue printing after your billing cycle ends, make sure you have standard replacement ink cartridges ready to use in your printer.
If you do not have the postage-paid envelope provided by HP, go to Recycling HP Instant Ink Cartridges to order an envelope.
- There is no pro-rated reimbursement for the remainder of your billing period.
- Your service continues until the end of your current billing period.
- If there are any charges for additional printing, your credit card is charged. Depending on when you cancel, the charge might appear the following month.
NOTE: Your HP Instant Ink service cannot be suspended or placed on hold. If you are gone for a month or less, your account rolls over up to your monthly plan pages limit for one month. If you must be away for an extended period of time and do not want to be charged for the HP Instant Ink service during that time, you need to cancel the service and then re-enroll when desired. If you cancel your account and re-enrol, all free promotional months and rollover pages are forfeit, even if you re-enroll.
Sign in to your HP Instant Ink account to cancel your HP Instant Ink service.
- Go to Com/Signin (the HP Connected website) to sign in to your HP Instant Ink account, if you are not signed in already.
Your HP Instant Ink account page opens.
- On your HP Instant Ink account page, click My Plan, and then click Edit.
- On the HP Instant Ink Plan window, click Cancel Enrollment.
- Click Cancel Service to confirm your cancellation request. You should receive an email confirmation of the cancellation.
NOTE 1: As an option you may also cancel enrollment via the HP Printer Assistant feature on your computer (i.e. select ‘Start’ – ‘Devices and Printers’ from Windows), go to ‘Account Settings’ and select ‘Cancel my HP Instant Ink Subscription’. Enter e-mail and password when prompted.
NOTE 2: If neither of the above solutions work you can try restoring the printer to its Factory Default settings under the printers ‘Tools’ menu. This will usually force a program interruption of the HP subscription service (…varies by model).
- You may now use regular HP ink cartridges in your printer (either standard or high-capacity) cartridges or refilled ink cartridges. NOTE: HP Instant Ink cartridges will be deactivated for use at the end of the current/active billing period and must be returned to HP.
Hope this will helps everyone properly. If these mentioned points do not work please let me know.
