Hi @karin68,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 2734e All-in-One Printer won't print from black ink despite showing that the ink cartridge is full, it can be due to several reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the black ink cartridge is properly installed. Open the printer and reinsert the cartridge to make sure it's seated correctly.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Sometimes the printhead can get clogged. Use the printer’s built-in cleaning function to clean the printhead. This can usually be accessed via the printer's control panel or through the HP printer software on your computer.
  • You can also manually clean the printhead with a lint-free cloth and distilled water. Be very gentle to avoid damaging the printhead.

Align the Printer:

  • The printer might need to be aligned. This can be done through the printer’s control panel or via the HP printer software on your computer.

Update or Reinstall Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. You can download the latest drivers from the HP support website.
  • Sometimes reinstalling the drivers can resolve the issue. Uninstall the current drivers and then reinstall them.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Verify that the print settings are correctly configured. Ensure that the document is set to print in color or black and white as needed. Sometimes, the settings may inadvertently be set to print in color only, which can cause the printer to skip the black ink.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer and resolve printing issues.

Inspect the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Ensure that the contacts on the ink cartridge and inside the printer are clean and free from debris. You can gently clean them with a lint-free cloth.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • If you are not using genuine HP cartridges, it might cause issues. Make sure you are using authentic HP ink cartridges, as third-party cartridges might not work correctly with your printer.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Sometimes, a firmware update can fix issues with the printer. Check the HP support website for any available firmware updates for your model. Update the firmware on an HP printer

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If possible, try using a different black ink cartridge. There might be an issue with the cartridge itself even if it shows full.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
