Common problems for INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Instant Ink. Check out this link: HP INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER. .

Does any one else think it is a scam that you pay for Instant Ink and then u can’t use the ink that you bought after a certain date.  Additionally, I cancelled the subscription and they will charge me for one more month 5 days before the ink stops working.   This is messed up and I am sorry I ever signed up for this.

From what I have read, the instant ink cartridges are the property of HP and stop working at the end of the billing cycle, not at the date the subscription is canceled.  If you were charged for an additional month the ink should work until the end of that particular month.    Unless I am mistaken, you are supposed to return the unused cartridges.

I do not have an instant ink printer. My understanding is that if you run out of ink, or you cancel your subscription, you can use genuine Hewlett Packard cartridges either original or refilled. They must have an HP chip in the cartridge.

Note that this is a peer to peer forum and I am just the messenger of this bad news: Instant ink cartridges can only be used when the ink subscription is active.   HP is not the only company that wants their own ink used. The last time I checked, Epson, Canon and Brother all do the same.

I have a 15 year old HP CM1415 color laser printer.  It works perfectly, and takes any type of cheap toner.  The cheaper the toner the uglier the printout.
