I have a new HP Officejet Pro 9025. Soon I'll be running out of ink. When I enroll I have to choose a plan. Sometimes once in a while in one month I can foresee printing a half-dozen 50-page full-sized photo collection, way over any plan print limits. In this case, could I switch to my purchased ink for this high-page project and not run way over my monthly instant ink plan that I have signed up for? Will the reported page usage each month just report pages printed only with the instant ink cartridges in that month?

@watercolorwilly, Welcome to HP Support Community!
The page count will not stop when ink cartridges are changed, however, the ink shipment will stop when the instant ink cartridges are removed from the printer as the system will not be able to monitor the ink levels.
I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!

I finally found out how to talk to HP about this. I had to go to instantink.com to find a phone number. Here is the reply to my question, unless I've misunderstood it:
Once on the Instantink program, I'm able to remove those cartridges and replace them with my own purchased HP cartridges. In my case I would do this if I notice I'm going to have a huge printing job of, say, 300 pages of photos. Currently, I've signed up for 100 pages per month. So, I understand that I can remove the Instantink cartridges at any time and, as a result, my page count does not increment until I re-insert those Instantink cartridges again. Of course, my monthly Instantink charge continues whether I use my own or the instantink cartridges. In this way I can avoid having to fiddle with and decide which monthly service to change to. AND also it only changes the service change at the end of the monthly cycle. That would be too late for a large print job that I need immediately. Changing out the instant ink cartridges to my purchased HP cartridges solves that problem. I just have to remember to reinsert the instantink ones, or be charged the monthy fee for using my own cartridges.
If you don't agree, please get back to me. My first Instantink cartridges are on the way as we speak.
