Hi @1234Pierre,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've purchased a used HP ENVY 5540 printer and you're encountering the error message that it's connected to a different account when trying to set up HP Instant Ink, you may need to disassociate the printer from the previous owner's account. Since you don't have access to the previous owner's information, you'll need to follow these steps to resolve the issue.
- Factory Reset the Printer: If HP Support advises you to do so, perform a factory reset on the printer. The process for doing this may vary by printer model, so consult the printer's user manual or the HP website for specific instructions.
- Set Up a New HP Instant Ink Account: Once the printer is disassociated from the previous owner's account and reset, you can set up your own HP Instant Ink account. Follow the instructions provided by HP Support or those included in the Instant Ink registration process.
By following these steps and working with HP Support, you should be able to get the printer connected to your own HP Instant Ink account and use it without any issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4, thanks for your rely, it's all been sorted now.
After posting my problem I managed to get hold of a human, and he helped me solve the problem, like you said I had to get the old account deleted, as I had most of the details to pass dpa, that was no problem.
The real problem is getting past the bot, if it would of had the option to put you thru to a human agent, I would of been able to use this printer last week, as I have been trying to solve this for a week now.
Thanks anyway for your help, much appreciated
Regards Pierre
