Hi @Howdy68,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that the carriage is stuck on the right side and the printer reports a paper jam. HP recommends these steps:

  1. Turn the printer on.

  2. Open the ink cartridge access door.

  3. Wait until the printer becomes inactive.

  4. While the printer is still on, unplug the power cord from the printer.

    • This is important to avoid electrical shock and lets you move the carriage by hand safely.

  5. Check for any paper or foreign objects in the ink cartridge access area.

  6. Manually move the print carriage side to side.

    • Since yours is stuck on the right side, move it to the left.

  7. Remove any paper or objects you find using both hands.

  8. Close the ink cartridge access door.

  9. Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on again.

If you still get a jam message even though no paper is found, HP notes this can be a false paper jam. In that case, try a printer reset:

  1. Turn off the printer. If it does not turn off, disconnect the power cord.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  3. Wait 60 seconds.

  4. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.

  5. Turn the printer on.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
