Hi @Howdy68,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I hear that the carriage is stuck on the right side and the printer reports a paper jam. HP recommends these steps:
- Turn the printer on.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Wait until the printer becomes inactive.
- While the printer is still on, unplug the power cord from the printer.
- This is important to avoid electrical shock and lets you move the carriage by hand safely.

- Check for any paper or foreign objects in the ink cartridge access area.
- Manually move the print carriage side to side.
- Since yours is stuck on the right side, move it to the left.
- Since yours is stuck on the right side, move it to the left.
- Remove any paper or objects you find using both hands.
- Close the ink cartridge access door.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on again.
If you still get a jam message even though no paper is found, HP notes this can be a false paper jam. In that case, try a printer reset:
- Turn off the printer. If it does not turn off, disconnect the power cord.
- Unplug the power cord from the power source.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.
- Turn the printer on.
I hope this will help.
Take care and have a good day.
