I am wondering why with the new package of HP ink when purchased and placed into Hp printer, it states that it is not recognized and cannot use the new ink cartridge.  it's exactly the same.  frustrating since you pay so much for it I cannot use it.  most stores will not allow you to return once package open.

Hi @ToothQueen

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern. It can be disappointing when a new HP ink cartridge is not recognized by the printer even though it appears to be the correct one. Thank you for sharing the details so far. Could you let me know the exact printer model and the cartridge number you purchased? This will help us narrow down the compatibility and region-specific details.

In the meantime, here are a few basic checks you can try:

  • Ensure the cartridge is HP Original and matches the printer’s supported cartridge series.
  • Remove the cartridge, gently wipe the electrical contacts with a lint‑free cloth, and reinsert it firmly.
  • Power cycle the printer by turning it off, unplugging for a minute, then turning it back on.
  • Confirm that the printer firmware is up to date through the HP App.

Once you share the printer model and cartridge details, I can provide precise HP guidance tailored to your device. Would you be able to provide that information?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
