HP ENVY Inspire 7920e All-in-One Printer

I don't print often and am on a low page subscription package. Today printed a test page and the printer then printed about approx. 1cm of the test page on an additional 4 pages. Then I printed a few pdf docs, the last one (with same settings as the others, no obvious reason for doing so that I can find) also printed out about 5mm of the top of the page, 19 times. I vaguely recall something similar happening the last time I printed but chalked it up to a bad configuration of the printer or document but couldn't see anything and forgot about it. But when the test print starts doing it, there must be something else going on. Is this an Instant Ink scam to bump up the page count???!!!

Welcome to the HP English Community --

No, odd print issues are not an evil plot to steal your plan pages.

Please be assured that source of the issue would never be conspired by Instant Ink.

There is no benefit to the service by hooking you into printing partial page errors you do not want and cannot use.

Contact Instant Ink and ask for help to credit back pages caused by printer issues.

The source of the issue lies elsewhere.

If you have not done so and wish to try it while you wait for the Support offices to open,

Restart all your stuff (device(s), printer, router)

Thank you for your helpful response @Dragon-Fur, I will try troubleshooting steps you have suggested, in case of anything new. Before posting I followed online troubleshooting aids, checked to see that printer drivers and firmware were up to date etc., as they should be because they update automatically - not optional with a subscription. However, it's always worth a check to make sure, no updates were available. Power cycled my stuff. When using the support assistant, the stock question prompts did not help much, circling around with an AI bot is increasingly frustrating. Being led from there to create a support ticket was only semi useful. I don't use WhatsApp, seems to me to be an odd choice of support tool for a massive conglomerate such as HP. I will start the troubleshooting process again though and will try contacting support again now that it is open for business.

Cheers, PurpleHat.
