Hi @cadilady,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP printer issues preventing printing!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look at the printer display screen or your computer for any specific error messages or codes that provide more detail about the issue.

Ensure Connectivity:

  • Verify that all connections between your printer and computer are secure.
  • If using a wireless connection, ensure that the printer is connected to the correct network.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your printer model. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause issues.

Check Ink or Toner Levels:

  • Make sure that the printer has adequate ink or toner. Low ink levels can prevent printing.

Restart Devices:

  • Power cycle both the printer and your computer by turning them off, waiting for a moment, and turning them back on.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Disconnect the printer from the power source.
  • Hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power and turn on the printer again.

Review Print Queue:

  • Clear the print queue on your computer to ensure there are no blocked jobs preventing new jobs from processing.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • If the printer is operational enough to access settings, check for any applicable firmware updates which might resolve underlying issues.

I hope this helps.
