I called HP customer support for printers to see what ink to buy for my printer as the ink I bought would not work. After much discussion the agent said they needed remote control of my computer to "fix" some things and then they could tell me the ink type. I gave them remote control. They had me log onto my bank to supposedly to check to see if I received a refund from them. They said I had been charged unfairly....made no sense but I opened my bank account while they had control. They made it appear as if HP deposited 3400$ into my checking account. Then they asked me to drive to my bank and withdraw the 3400$ in 100$ bills and send it back to "HP" via the address they will provide me. I became suspicious and told them I was calling my son. (I am 67 yo) I hung up and called my son. He told me to shut down my computer and call the bank immediately and put a freeze on my account. I did. There was no extra money in my account. The only 3400$ was my own 3400$ that I personally had before they laid their greedy eyes upon it. I have been trying to contact HP to notify them of their employees fraud.

You were never talking to HP - Not at all.
I am sorry you were trapped.
No legitimate company would do this - not one.
There are thousands of scam sites on the Internet --
It is easy to think you are one place when you are really in the hands of people who mean you harm.
The worst of these sites are sneaky, conniving, professional shysters, who prey on everyone they can trap.
The Internet is both wonderful and a dark and dangerous place.
I'm glad you did not give the thieves your money.
Unfortunately, the news gets worse.
Having let the scoundrels into your computer enabled the thieves to access pretty much everything not tied down behind encryption. This includes your personal files, any pictures, documents, records.
At the least, change all your passwords.
Scan your computer with your security software.
And, no, don't go looking for new software, you might get scammed again.
Ask your son for help.
Report the problem to the authorities.
