Hi @npuhej,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP ENVY X360 15 Convertible PC freezing when using web browsers like Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Computer freezes can be caused by various factors, and it can be a bit challenging to diagnose the exact problem without more information. However, I can provide you with some general troubleshooting steps to help you identify and resolve the issue.

  • Check for Updates: Ensure that your operating system (e.g., Windows) and web browsers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated software can lead to compatibility issues and crashes.
  • Disable Browser Extensions: Browser extensions and add-ons can sometimes cause stability problems. Try disabling or removing unnecessary extensions in your web browsers to see if that resolves the issue.
  • Clear Browser Cache and Cookies: Accumulated cache and cookies can also lead to browser performance issues. Clear your browser's cache and cookies to see if it makes a difference.
  • Run a Malware Scan: Malware or viruses can interfere with the normal operation of your computer. Use a reputable antivirus or anti-malware software to scan your system.
  • Check for Resource Usage: Use the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc or Ctrl + Alt + Delete, then select Task Manager) to monitor CPU and memory usage when using your browsers. High resource usage can lead to freezing. You might need to close unnecessary background applications.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause freezing issues, especially when using web browsers. Update your graphics drivers to the latest version from the manufacturer's website.
  • Hardware Diagnostics: Run a comprehensive hardware diagnostic test on your laptop to check for hardware issues. HP usually provides built-in diagnostics tools for this purpose.
  • Check for Overheating: Overheating can cause system instability. Ensure that your laptop isn't overheating. Keep it on a flat surface and check if the fans are working correctly.
  • Reset Browsers: If none of the above steps work, consider resetting your web browsers to their default settings.
  • Create a New User Profile: Sometimes, issues can be user-specific. Create a new user profile on your computer and see if the problem persists when using that profile.
  • Restore to a Previous State: If you can pinpoint when the problem started occurring, you can try using System Restore to revert your computer to a previous, stable state.

Please be cautious when attempting these troubleshooting steps and ensure you have backups of important data.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
