HP OfficeJet Pro 8024 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8024 All-in-one.

It is second hand.

The person I bought it from was a subscriber to HP Instant Ink, however when he sold me the printer, he cancelled membership with Instant ink.

I am in the process of signing up to instant ink.

I have got as far as giving my bank details.

I then receive a message saying

Just one last step. We need to connect your printer to HP Instant Ink.

I know that my internet is all connected in the correct way.

But when I try to open HP ePrint on the printer I find I cannot access it because I get a message stating

Cartridge cannot be used until enrolled in HP Instant Ink

Thus unable to print anything.

Please help!!

Hi @Bazza708,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP Officejet Pro 8024 is still recognizing the previous owner's subscription to HP Instant Ink, and it's preventing you from using the printer until it's enrolled in your account. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve this issue.

  1. Reset the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer.
    • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord back into the printer.
    • Turn on the printer.
  2. Factory Reset:

    • This step will reset the printer to its factory settings. Please note that this will remove all the previous settings, including Wi-Fi connections.
    • Go to the printer control panel.
    • Navigate to "Setup," then "Tools," and look for the "Restore Factory Defaults" or a similar option.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a factory reset.
  3. Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

    • After the factory reset, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network using the control panel on the printer.
  4. Enroll in HP Instant Ink:

    • Once the printer is back online, go to the HP Instant Ink website and log in to your account.
    • Follow the instructions to add the printer to your account.
  5. Update Firmware (if necessary):

    • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP website.
    • If there are updates, follow the instructions to update the firmware.

Remember to use caution when performing a factory reset, as it will erase all existing settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
