I'm so frustrated, I bought a new printer from Amazon that was advertised with "!!9months free printer ink!!' what it didn't say is that I would have to pay $7 a month after even if I don't print each month. I can go 3 months without having to print anything. So, paying $7 a month to own the printer I already paid for, or use the printer ink I already paid for is ridiculous. I'm 63 and live on SSI and that $7 a month could be a meal, and not go to a service I don't use or need. And I can't use the ink I already paid for when I do cancel, I have to buy more cartridges!? I purchased this printer, not rented it.

Welcome to the HP Community --

The problem is perhaps one of how the description sounds when read by itself compared to how the Instant Ink service actually works.

From the Support Website  Get HP Instant Ink Support

How Instant Ink works

The suspension of the monthly subscription fee is just that - a period of time when the subscription is not charged.

Ink is free in the sense that once you sign up for the contract, there are no extra charges for Ink.

Use a little ink or use a lot, the ink is included.

True - for the occasional printer, the service is generally less beneficial.

As a side note:  Even should you use your own ink cartridges, try to print something at least every couple of weeks -- ink cartridges are not meant to be installed and then ignored.  At the least, leave the printer switched ON so self-maintenance can be run.

OK - What to do?

I don't work for HP nor do I speak for HP.

That said, I do recommend that you contact HP Instant Ink Support --

Plead your case, explain your financial limitations, and ask about options.
