HP DeskJet 3720
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When printing in duplex (two-sided) mode, a dialog box with instructions pops up to indicate the way which printouts should be re-feeded to the printer. However, this dialog box pops up randomly during the printing of the first or second page (not after the first half of the printouts) and gets attached to any application that is currently in the foreground. This behavior locks the current application until the "continue" button is pressed for the next half of pages to be printed.

In the attached screenshot, the dialog box popped when using Microsoft Edge. Edge is now unusable because the dialog box is embedded to it and it will flash whenever Edge is clicked. This can happen with any program that is running in the foreground at the time the dialog box appears. If the program is the application from which the printout originated, it will still be unusable until half of pages are printed.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Are you facing this issue after an update?

Do you face this issue while printing on one side?

Have you tried to update the printer firmware?

Update the printer firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-3700-all-in-one-printer-series/8954253/model/8954254...

If the issue persists, I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-deskjet-3700-all-in-one-printer-series... to download and install the HP DeskJet and Ink Advantage 3700 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers

Keep me posted, how it goes!

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Have a great day!

Cheers:)
