F4500
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The wireless button in the front of the printer does not seem to have any effect (no blue light ever comes up).

The printer used to work fine. It was in a closet for 4 months (I was traveling). Upon coming back home, I turn it on and the wireless blue light never comes up.

The printer works fine via USB. The built-in Wireless test (push the Scan button for 2 seconds) shows that everything is fine and enabled. The printer even prints the network setting (SSID, IP address, etc...) but still no blue light.

I have reinstalled the HP Solutions Center 5 times - and reconfigured the Wireless 3 times from the Widows 10 notebook.

The wireless config goes well until the last step where it says that it cannot identify the printer.

I think I should reset the network setting in the printer memory.

How to clear up that setting?

How to reset to factory settings?

Thanks!

Try this reset.

With the power ON, unplug the printer from the wall outlet.  Wait 10 mins.  Plug the unit back into the wall outlet without any power strip or surge protector.  Power the unit on if it does not.   Now try again.

Are you connected to your wireless network and does the printer work?  Resetting the printer is most likely in the User Guide you can download from the HP web site.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The network is up and running: I have 2 notebooks, and a tablet connected to it.

But the blue led on the front of the printer is desperately dead. I have pushed the button many times, even leaving my finger on it for up to 20 seconds, hoping for some kind of reset. (no avail)

My two notebooks, which could print to that printer 4 months ago, show it as being off line.

So, all signs point to the printer not being able to connect to my home network

Regarding resetting, I have downloaded the manual (1st thing I did 🙂 ) and their reset procedure is (page 55 of the user manual) "Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, then plug the power back on and turn the printer on". Which, I  did, but I know it is not the full reset I am looking for.  I have not found any other resetting info on any of the manuals (user and reference manuals).

Another piece of information: It is not the 1st time that I travel for extended amount of time (up to 6 moths) but it is the 1st time that the printer does not reconnect upon powering up. I travel with my notebooks and leave the printer at my home office. Usually, I power everything and it just works. The two notebooks and the tablet connected to the home network without any problem. but the printer is just sitting there with no blue light and no error message.

It's possible the wireless radio has failed.

Print out the Network Test page and post the results here.

The power off trick worked: The printer now shows being on-line on the notebooks and prints.

And the network self-test shows that it is connected (it did not before)

However, the blue light still does not comes up. But it is not important for now.

Your wireless light probably burned out, just like mine did.
